During Africa weeks, we have an African classroom visiting the site. Students from our school and feeder schools will work in the classroom, and will study Africa in all lessons. Students will wear clothes the colour of the Ugandan flag on the day of the bus.
In addition , we will run a Philosophy day with Year 8, using Drama as a medium. Students will be asked to work in groupd to decide 'Does Free will exist?', and will take the stance, through drama, of determinists, libertarianists and compatibilists. The event will culminate in a mock trial - to be judged by the RE adviser.

Whole week off timetable for chosen talented students in art ,textiles,dance and photography. Costumes are produced for at least 30 dancers to parade through the streets of the local town. The work is of an exceptional standard and the dancers work on the choreography for 6 dances which are performed as the procession moves through the streets.

During Shine Week, KEVI students who study Modern Foreign Languages will be displaying their linguistic talents in preparation for International Week. Students in German will be writing letters to their new pen friends in German lessons to our partnership school The Jakob-Kaiser Realschule in southern Germany.

Modern Foreign Languages' Student Subject Leaders will also be preparing their European Café, ready for International Week from 7-11th July, which will aim at teaching the customers a foreign language, as well as serving them a delicacy!

Shine Week will be a week of celebration and activities at Tor View school.

The week will end with the launch of a new Amphitheatre, which has been built by students during a major construction project. A massive celebration is taking place including a procession with banners, kites, food being prepared, plant pots being arranged, a SHINE song sung by the choir, drumming and boogie-ing.

During Shine Week, every child in the school has the opportunity to add their own ‘Sparkle of talent’ to our ‘Galaxy of Stars’ Hall display in bright colours to show off the brightness of their talents. E.g. Children with artistic, sport, musical, comic, social etc talents will draw an illustration or bring a photograph of themselves shining in this area inside a shining star. Children can also be nominated by their peers and these stars are supported by peer comments to support their ‘Star Status’.

The transformational Musical Futures programme is making music the “must do” subject, instead of the one most students avoided, and the proportion of pupils taking Music GCSE in schools using MF has on average more than tripled. The In Your Hands conference at London’s South Bank on June 30 celebrates what has been achieved so far and announces another two years of funding for the project by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation

A celebration and sharing of the Making Waves project in which young people worked with radio professionals from BBC Stoke to develop their own content for broadcast on BBC Radio.

The young people who have been involved in the project will be sharing their stories as well as creating new content for broadcast.

They will be going out to various places in Hanley to interview people from around the city, asking questions that look at talent and what it means to them.

Beaford Arts is working with Blundell School to create individual collages inspired by Ravilious, Matisse, Hockney and the rural surroundings of Beaford. The 35 students involved will be using dyed papers to explore layers, shape and form from the natural environment, working in the studios at Beaford for the afternoon. Photographs will be taken throughout to document the process as well as mini interviews with the students to talk about their talent and what they have learnt during the activity.

Year 6 proudly present 'The Wind In The Willows'. A classic of children's literature written in 1908 by Kenneth Grahame, it tells the story of four animal friends - shy Mole, water-loving Rat, mischievous Mr. Toad and wise old Badger.

The main themes of 'The Wind In The Willows' are loyalty and friendship - very appropriate for the Year 6 Show. As the children move on to pastures new, we would like to wish them all the very best with their new adventures.

The BeauchampsHigh School High Sheriff's award winning Road Safety Focus Group 'Staying Alive' will be performing their drama and road safety initiative activity to a class of Year 4 pupils at Abacus Junior School. Troublemaker Theatre Company has been working with Year 6 teachers and pupils at Marish Primary School, Slough helping them to develop a ‘world class curriculum’. A new curriculum has been developed with the whole school to meet the needs of its diverse learners.

Inspired by The Odyssey, the year 6 students and teachers have created a celebratory theatre production which will be performed during Shine Week, on 30th June and 1st July.

These drawing sessions aim to develop skill and confidence in drawing, in a fun practical way.

Led by professional Swindon based artist Kate Parsons, the sessions will involve experimenting with marking tools, using a wide variety of paints, ink, pencils and charcoal.

During national 'Shine Week' Kidbrooke School revives the play directed by Lucy Cuthbertson using an all boys cast in a fast-moving, witty and physical production that is modern whilst remaining faithful to the original script. Kidbrooke School Drama Department has gained a reputation as one of the strongest in the country for the quality and professionalism of its drama productions, winning many festivals, and most recently adapting Ali Smith's novel Hotel World for Greenwich Theatre & the Edinburgh Festival which was awarded Best Play in the Fringe Report Awards 2008.
