Pupils at four local schools are spending a day in the park with a difference – The Window on the World is an opportunity to celebrate a whole variety of creative cultural influences in the great outdoors, using West Park as a space to showcase a whole variety of work. Music, dance and storytelling are on the bill along with carnival processions and steel pans, pupils have also been trained to lead Earth Walks to highlight environmental features and a group of year 6 apprentices have been recruited as mini ‘Park Rangers.’

Children will be given the opportunity to change the landsscape of our courtyard. They will be educated in how to develop an area, which needs little attention. During the session they will explore the importance of conserving water and growing your own vegetables.
We will have stalls and activities for the local community to take part in based on the environment. Stalls will include: a plant stall, healthy food and recyclable woollen dolls. Activities will include: orienteering course, making a picture using natural materials and Guess the name of the Plant. Other events include helping to make outdoor shelters and children will entertain with environmental themed dances.
