We have had two Shine Postboxes situated in our school all week. One very super shiny postbox in Keystage 1 and a shiny postbox decorated with shiny holgraphic paper in Key stage 2. All our children recieved a Shine postcard to fill in and post into our postboxes throughout the week.
What a fantastic response we have had and what very talented pupils we have here at Simonside.
Today was the day when the postcards were emptied and I had the job of reading them all and writing a certificate for each and everyone of our talented children.

During Shine Week, every child in the school has the opportunity to add their own ‘Sparkle of talent’ to our ‘Galaxy of Stars’ Hall display in bright colours to show off the brightness of their talents. E.g. Children with artistic, sport, musical, comic, social etc talents will draw an illustration or bring a photograph of themselves shining in this area inside a shining star. Children can also be nominated by their peers and these stars are supported by peer comments to support their ‘Star Status’.

Today our gardening club "Simonside Eco Warriors" dug up our first batch of new potatoes and leeks grown in our gardening area. The children involved were excited to see the final product after months of observing, watering and tending to the vegetables. The children took a bag of lovely new potatoes and a leek home to show their families. What an achievement.
Well Done !!
