This has been one of my favourite Shine experiences. Form MS did a fantastic job of serving a lovely afternoon tea complete with strawberries to local OAPs. Afterwards they played bingo with their guests who won some great prizes kindly donated by staff and local businesses. The guests all had a super time and praised Form MS stating how much they had enjoyed their afternoon.

Year 12 students become Reading Mentors

Year 12 students volunteer to take part in the school Paired Reading Initiative. For 10 weeks they meet with their Year 7 partner and listen to them read. The volunteers arrange the meetings in their spare time and are trained to deliver their expertise in a consistent manner. Most of all they make reading cool for our younger students - some of whom may have struggled with reading in the past.

CCHS Dominate Tendring Youth Awards

In April a number of our students attended the third annual Tendring Youth Awards evening organised by the Tendring Youth Council. CCHS had students short-listed in seven of the twelve categories and they won six of them. The judges had deliberated long and hard to decide the winners as every nominee had demonstrated exceptional endeavour, courage and determination.
