Amazing engineering by Year 7.

'On the corner is a banker with a motor car. The little children laugh at him behind his back. and the banker never wears a mack in the pouring rain, very strange.'

In Year 1 the children also had a very good and exciting week because a old motor car came in.The children also got to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang(how lucky).They became artists and did fantastic paintings of a motor car,using their imagination. Also the Year 1's became designers and designed motor cars that could fly! They also became scientists and learned about the water cycle.

Pupils were asked to design a building to survive an earthquake. They had to put their buildings through some shaky tests.

Congratulations to four of our Y9 pupils who have successfully gone through a very rigorous selection process and will now be participating in the new Engineering Diploma next year. Well done to Connor Kavanagh, Paul Shaw, Thomas Parr & Jordan Dawson!

Two teams journeyed to the Langdale centre to take part in the Mayors Eco Challenge.

With two days of hard earned information and smatterings of exciting techno challenges the students got an insight into the ins and outs of building or making something new for the council. The aim if the competition is to design a carbon neutral house and after seeing and hearing about the Hockerton houses students were under no allusions as to the scale of the challenge.

Michael Race – Year 10

Whilst in Year 9, Michael became involved with our “Greenpower Electric Car Racing for Schools’ project.

This involved giving up his Saturday mornings for several months while he and some other year 9 students built an electric car to be raced in a national competition.

Year 3 have been working in Design Technology to make pictuere frames and Van Gogh in their art work.

This is a selection of some of the work done by the children during our DT week.

Since i was young i always wwanted to be a roller coaster designer, with my cousin daniel hobson who goes to Hazelwick Secondry School in crawly,
these are the designes i won my 2nd place position
