New Heys English team participating in Act Together

‘Act Together’ hosted by Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council at the Liverpool Echo Arena was an unqualified success. It enabled a number of New Heys Gifted and Talented pupils to ‘reach for the stars.’ Kate Keeton, a Year 10 student who aspires to make a career in Drama wrote and directed a play on the theme of ‘Alcoholism’.

Ella's poetry

Ella is a talented poet....She wrote these poems especially for Shine week:

Beetles

Beetles are such lovely creatures
Beetles are so great
Nice and black
Shiny and all that
Always are awake

Beetles are such lovely creatures
Big bold and strong
Shiny stuff
on their back
Never do anything wrong

School

The school sits
The school stares,
Silence

The school creaks,
The school groans,
Silence

The school whispers,
Doors open,
Madness!

I Am A Road

I am grey,
I am hard,
I am rough.

I am bleak
I am meek,
I am stone.

Cars broom on me,

Who am I? Me and My Autism by Naomi Hillcrest School - Bartley Green

Who Am I? Me And My Autism

It brings me down
And makes me frown
When I look in the mirror

When I am glad
I then become sad
When I see who I really am

I sometimes wonder if I will ever be normal

I get pointed at a stared at every day in the street
No one knows what I really feel
I feel as if the world is spinning around me
Nobody knows how I really feel

My Escape by Amy W. Hillcrest School - Bartley Green

My Escape

Nights go by
I want to cry
No food, no water, what should I do?
I haven't got a clue
Guns and bombs keep going off
My heart tightens because I'm frightened

Oh Lord, help me!
Oh Lord, help me!
Please help me
Everyone's waking me

I'm a refugee
Please help me
There's no escape
I'm fighting for my life
I feel like I'm going to die
Please help me

Oh Lord, help me
Oh Lord, help me
Somebody please help me

Life by Busiswa - Hillcrest School - Bartley Green

Life

Life is hard; its an every day life
But when it gets hard we cry so hard
But don't worry, we all go through it
So cheer up, smile for when it gets better
You'll be smiling so hard you'll feel better

Why me? by Shadeen - Hillcrest School - Bartley Green

Why Me!

It's very hard when you can't see
You don't get to see your family
It's like the world is closing up on me
I wish my eyes could be free
Like everybody's else's
Why did this happen to me?

I don't get to be a normal child
I don't get to go school and play wild
I don't get to see the beautiful sun in the sky
Why oh why did I lose my eyesight
